Music theory is an integral part of music education. Understanding music notation is the foundation of playing an instrument with precision. It aids students in composing music as well as in communicating their own original music with other musicians.

There are many benefits of taking theory classes, a few of which are:

  •     Complements and enhances practical studies
  •     Theory helps in playing and writing of better music
  •     Theory stimulates development and greater understanding of music
  •     Can lead to two credits in High School

Arcadia Academy of Music Theory Courses are open to all students studying music and wanting to further their musical education. Music Theory is a co-requisite for RCM and Arcadia exams. Please visit our Event Calendar for upcoming courses offered at various Arcadia Academy of Music locations.

Theory courses are in preparation for RCM Theory Exams.
